We are in the new  2021 financial year now and the Australian Taxation Office has commenced accepting individual tax returns claims. The deadline for lodging your tax return for the 2020-2021 financial  year is 31 October 2021 unless you use the services of a Registered Tax Agent like me to get an extension, which is generally the period of additional 7 months, if all your prior years tax lodgment obligations are up to date. To receive an extension you need to be registered with the Tax Agent as a client as of 31 October. It usually takes about 14 days for the Tax Office to issue you with the Notice of Assessment after your tax return is lodged.
